Summary of Position:

Using a family centered model, within the confines of a natural environment, a Child Developmental Specialist will develop and facilitate activities promoting the overall development of children with disabilities and their families.

Essential Job Functions:
• Develop ideas, plans and procedures for initiation, expansion, improvement, and evaluation of Early Intervention for the benefit of children and families with special needs.
• Assess cognitive, physical, social domains and language development for children and recommend appropriate activities to enhance growth and development of children.
• Promote family involvement, advocacy and support family decisions.
• Using a family centered model, working within natural environments, build an appropriate and professional relationship with children and families.
• Conduct intake visitations incorporating organizational history, descriptions of services and programs, and completion of intake file
• Conduct child assessments, as well as re-assessments, and create evaluation reports incorporating assessment tools, caregiver reports, and professional reports.
• Participate in home visitations with eligible families, identifying strengths and needs of both child and family.
• Attend and observe (1) therapy session per child per month when appropriate.
• Schedule weekly meetings with the Sr. Director of EIP to discuss weekly progress on each child and family.
• Submit a progress report per visit for each child and family served in the EI Program.
• Organize and maintain the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), including, but not limited to, assessments, update family needs and priorities, transition planning and up-to-date health history.
• Coordinate evaluations with appropriate therapists.
• Assist in the set-up and facilitation of playgroups.
• Assist in the cleaning, and organization, of the "toy"-barn, gross motor room, and craft/supply room.
• Attend staff and program meetings.
• Comply with all state, federal and program policies, standards, and timeliness
• Keep consistent records and meet timelines for reporting and conduction of assessments.
• Maintain excellent written and verbal correspondence using DAP notes.
• Maintain excellent records on all children enrolled in the Early Intervention Program.
• Assist in all other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Intervention.
• Consistently communicate with therapists on IFSP team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to work in an environment around people that may have severe, profound and/or multiple disabilities.
• Ability to prioritize assignments.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Competency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
• Self-starter, able to work without constant supervision.
• Ability to promote a positive, friendly, helpful professional image and interacts well with others.

Minimum Required Education and Experience
• Have and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and excellent verbal communication skills
• Bachelor's degree Psychology, Early Childhood, Special Education, or a related field
• 1 year of paid experience working with children from birth to age 3
• Must have and maintain valid, current Nevada driver's license, auto insurance and registration
