ABOUT EASTERSEALS NEVADA

Since 1950, Easterseals Nevada has been advocating for, and working with, infants, children, youth and adults who have disabilities and other challenges.  Easter Seals Nevada works to address the community's social service gaps and to leverage partnerships and other strategic opportunities to increase participation in economic and civic life for all people. The organization is one of Nevada's largest community disability agencies serving 8,500 people with disabilities and their families each year.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Plan, prepare and carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and/or prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
• Uses professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision making in practice.
• Participates in continuing education for professional development to ensure practice consistent with best practice and to meet Nevada Licensure requirements.
• Adheres to federal and state regulation, and policies that affect physical therapy practice.
• Prioritizes and schedules work tasks independently.
• Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines and agency system policy.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to manage patients with different types of personalities
• Ability to work in an environment with individuals with severe disabilities who may be developmentally and behaviorally challenged.
• Ability to represent agency in a professional manner at all times; including demonstrated ability to interact professionally with all persons both within and outside the organization,
• Ability to determine the need for an occupational therapy evaluation and to select and administer appropriate assessment tools to evaluate the patient.
• Ability to interpret evaluation data and write a comprehensive report that reflects strengths and barriers to client participation; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention.
• Current knowledge of treatment practices per discipline and drive to continually learn and grow in the profession
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion pertaining to the work environment.
• Knowledgeable and skilled in computer/word processing software and excel.
• Knowledge of the federal, state local legislation, regulations, policies and procedures that mandate and guide physical therapy in practice.
• Skill in effective oral and written communication.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

• Have successfully completed and graduated from a School of Physical Therapy, accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Compliance with other qualifications, as outlined by the State of Nevada
• 1 year of paid experience in the evaluation and treatment of children.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Have and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Has dependable transportation with access to Provide a valid driver's license and provides vehicle insurance documentation, if appropriate


Special Requirements:
• Valid and current Physical Therapy license from the State of Nevada
