Summary of Position:

The Senior Director of Assistive Technology (AT) and Independent Living (IL) Services supervises operations of clinical assistive technology services and independent living services. Directs staff for both AT and IL and activities associated with grants which provide funding to the program. The Sr. Director of AT and IL reports directly to Chief information Officer/Chief of Technology Services and Independent Living

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  1. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff in cooperation with CIO. 
  2. Supervise and direct person centered services.
  3. Manage daily operations of IL at AT Programs.
  4. Ensure services provided meet objectives of grants which fund these programs.
  5. Ensure consumer satisfaction.
  6. Manage fiscal operation of the IL and AT programs.
  7. Market and promote services in Nevada.
  8. Engage in statewide leadership to improve independently living and technology services provided throughout Nevada.
  9. Provide support and clinical oversight for all program staff.
  10. Maintain and update policies and procedures as needed.
  11.  Ensure staff are provided with appropriate training and develop goals with staff for continued professional development and growth.
  12. Track and report on program data and comply with grant reporting requirements and deadlines. 
  13. Actively engage in Agency, Division and Programmatic Strategic planning.
  14. Keep up-to-date with best practices in delivering person centered assistive technology and independent living services.
  15. Employee must have reliable transportation, appropriate insurance coverage and a clean driving record and be eligible and able to drive company vehicles when needed.
  16. Employee must be able to travel by air.
  17. Employee must also submit to, and pass yearly fingerprint and background checks as required under state and federal grant criteria

  19. Perform other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Strong understanding of best practices for service delivery and program management.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Ability to provide self-direction and prioritize multiple projects and goals to achieve strategic objectives.
  4. Ability and desire to learn new systems and implement solutions;
  5. Ability to provide accurate case documentation;
  6. Ability to communicate and maintain good relationships and interactions with consumers, other staff, other agency personnel and other persons in the community;
  7. Maintains a professional image at all times while performing work duties;
  8. Ability to travel independently state-wide including overnight stays from Monday - Friday as business needs dictate. Occasional overnight, out-of-state travel may be required for training and conferences.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

  1. Degree: Bachelor Degree, Master Preferred, in rehabilitative, computer, or social science.
  2. Experience required: 5 years of clinical experience and 2 - 3 years of management experience
  3. Competent leader; skilled in change and conflict management
  4. Demonstrate commitment to the philosophy of independent living, including consumer control, peer support, self-determination, equal access, and individual and systems advocacy.
